Well, October has turned into somewhat of a topsy turvy kind of a month.
An extra gig added at short notice and a long planned appearance cancelled at even shorter notice.
In recent months we have been in contact Sheffield based promoters Wagon Wheel Media and a couple of weeks ago they got in touch to offer The Janskys a wonderful support opportunity at Shakespeares in Sheffield playing with touring American acts Eef Barzelay of indie Americana band Clem Snide and Chris Otepka of The Heligoats.
The evening of Wednesday 16th October turned into a great night with Pat and Damian chuffed to be on the same bill as such talented understated song smiths as Eef and Chris. Intimate performances in front of an appreciative audience. Wonderful.
Next morning Damian was struck down with a cough and cold which took the wind out of his sails and the voice out of his throat. Let’s blame those Americans picking up and passing on autumnal cold bugs as they wend their way around the British Isles ;-). Anyway, hoping things would improve by Sunday 20th October for the scheduled Oxjam performance which was booked months ago, The Janskys decided on the day itself to cancel as things had not improved and their current set depends more than ever on the interplay of vocals between Pat and Damian. Sure the old man’s on the mend now….
More News soon…. wishing you all well.
With the last hurrah of summer squeezed out it’s time to look forward to the turning colours of autumn. Working hard at their studio HQ, The Janskys are currently writing new material and are hoping to play a selection of shows between now and the end of the year. After a great night at The Green Room at the start of the month as part of Sheffield Sound’s 1st Anniversary celebrations the band will be appearing live again in October.
On Sunday 20th October Pat and Damian will be playing a set as part of Oxjam Steel City’s all day Takeover event. Full details can be found here: https://www.sawayakasheffield.org.uk/live-shows/

Also, the slow burn of the recently released LP WHEN SILENCE SPEAKS continues with another review surfacing, this time in the printed pages of R2 Magazine. The publication comes out every two months and the review can be found in the September/October issue.
Details of the review can be found here: https://www.sawayakasheffield.org.uk/reviews/r2-rock-n-reel-septemberoctober-2013-volume-2-issue-41/

Sawayaka Sheffield and The Janskys really appreciate your continued support and hope to clink a pint glass with you at some point down the line.
All The Best
